CHEO FIELD TRIP: "BODIES THE EXHIBITION" IN ATLANTA!
Saturday July 22nd,
leaving Chattanooga from East Ridge at 8 a.m.

We're planning on meeting in the parking lot of Cracker Barrel in East Ridge (1460 Mack Smith Rd.) at 8am, joining together into carpools and leaving Chattanooga approx. 8:15 am going to: Atlanta Civic Center. Purchase tickets at the Box Office, located at 397 Piedmont Avenue, NE.  Price is: Adults (age 15-65) $20; Senior (age 65+) $18; Children (age 4-14) $15; Audio Tour (additional) $5 with recommendation it be purchased one for each two people; and $5 per car parking. I called and was told  if we arrive Saturday morning without pre-purchasing tickets - the longest wait we might have is 15 minutes. Just show up Saturday July 22nd, or if you know you're going to attend, please email me TamiFreedman@aol.com.

Tim Russell, our July 15th speaker writes: I recently attended Bodies The Exhibition at the Atlanta Civic Center.  This is the exhibit where human bodies have been preserved in plastic and displayed in a variety of ways that is very educational as well as artistic.  I found the 3-D effect to be very helpful for my understanding of the spatial relationships of the body.  There are certain things that a book just can't picture fully in two dimensions.  The room of the circulatory system was my favorite.  They had an entire body's blood vessels preserved and everything else was dissolved!  It still looked like a body.  You could even see the face.  I highly recommend anyone who has an interest in the human body attend this exhibit before they leave on September 4.  Here is the website for more info:  http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com  Peace, Tim Russell

Ed Jones of Nutrition World writes: My wife and I went to Atlanta to see the most amazing exhibition that I have ever witnessed in my life.  The name of it is, "Bodies, The Exibition".  This is a display of REAL human bodies that are preserved using a special silicon that allows you to view every single body part as though it were a living body.  These are people that had died in Bejing China and are presented in many different ways.  There were nine different rooms that we visited and each room had a different theme.  One room was the muscular system, one was the organs, one was the intestines, etc.  I have attended cadaver labs where I spent hours working with different corpses, however this is so much more educational and enlightening because the way the bodies appear is so life-like in appearance and structure.  I truly now have a new appreciation of the true weblike effect of our body and it again reaffirms my commitment to the value of taking good care of this highly complex machine.
